Ref: NDF C30
EUR 500,000.00
Project period: 2011-2015
Partner agency: Inter-American Development Bank
Project completed in June 2015. Actual disbursed amount EUR 496,991.00.
Objectives
The main objective is to provide input to policy development and identify feasible investment projects in climate change adaptation in the water sector in Latin America through case studies on drylands, glacial retreat, sea level rise, and increased hydrological extremes. The project will finance four case studies that will focus on laying down the foundation for future investments in adaptation in the water sector in Latin America. This will include integrated water resources management and vulnerability reduction in the region. The project will develop proposals for specific investment projects addressing climate change adaptation and water resources. The contribution of NDF is focused on Central America and will support: i) two case studies with appropriate practicable adaptation actions; ii) capacity development through workshops and outreach with participation of public sector entities (decision-makers), academia, water utilities, urban, industrial, NGOs and other stakeholders in Honduras and Nicaragua; and iii) preliminary design of two specific investment projects.
Financing
Total cost of the study will be EUR 0.9 million, of which NDF will provide EUR 0,5 and Inter American Development Bank EUR 0.4 million.
