Strong interest for Nordic Climate Facility in Sweden and Denmark
The last two stops of the Nordic Climate Facility’s (NCF) Nordic road show were held in Stockholm and Copenhagen on 6 and 8 September. The objective of the road show was to promote the facility’s 7th call for proposals. In both cities, the presentations drew the attention of a large number of people from the private sector, NGOs and academia.
The events were organised in collaboration with local counterparts. In Sweden, these were Smart City Sweden and the Swedish Agency for Economic and Regional Growth. In Denmark, NCF partnered with the Confederation of Danish Industry. “Through our partners in Sweden and Denmark we were able to reach out to a new audience consisting of small and medium-sized companies. The objective of the 7th call is to test innovative green business concepts and therefore the participation of the private sector is encouraged,” says Emeli Möller, Manager of NCF.
The Nordic Project Fund (Nopef) was also presented in both of these road show events by the Nordic Environment Finance Corporation (NEFCO). “Nopef provides financial support for feasibility studies for internationalisation of Nordic SMEs bringing green growth to countries outside EU/EFTA. We saw a clear synergy between NCF and Nopef in assisting Nordic SMEs establishing themselves in developing markets, and were very pleased to participate in the road show. The feedback we received from the participants was very positive, and we anticipate seeing more applications in the future as a result of this cooperation,” says Søren Berg Rasmussen, Investment Officer from NEFCO.
NCF is a challenge fund which provides funding for innovative climate projects in low-income countries.
It is financed and administered by the Nordic Development Fund. The theme for the current call for proposals of NCF is “Climate as Business - Testing Innovative Green Business Concepts.” Nordic companies and organisations can seek funding under NCF together with at least one partner in the country of implementation. Concept note applications can be submitted between 28 August and 29 September 2017. For more information about NCF and the 7th call for proposals, visit the NCF web page.
