Nordic Council discussed NDF
NDF was featured in various discussions at the Nordic Council´s (NC) 67th session, held in Reykjavik from 27 to 29 October 2015.
The Council’s committee on environment and natural resources had invited NDF to give a presentation and update on NDF activities in its meeting during the Council general session. The committee held a lively and largely positive discussion following presentation by Pasi Hellman, Managing Director.
Also in the discussions in the general sessions of the Council, at the ministerial level (both environment and foreign ministers) NDF was part of the discussions. In discussions with the ministers, the chairperson of the committee, Hanna Kosonen, member of parliament of Finland, emphasized the role of NDF as joint Nordic institution in the area of climate finance, and referred to its successful performance recently as good basis for future operations.
Nordic Council ended up formally renewing its earlier recommendation to strengthen NDF’s future financial resources. The Council also wished that the Nordic countries’ governments would initiate political dialogue on the issue.
Nordic Council is the official inter-parliamentary body in the Nordic region. The Council has 87 elected Nordic parliamentarians as members.
