The Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Iceland has contributed an additional EUR 1.45 million to EEP Africa for the years 2026-2028.

As a clean energy financing facility hosted and managed by NDF, EEP Africa supports locally driven solutions that accelerate the growth of renewable energy markets in Southern and Eastern Africa. Its mission closely reflects the priorities of Iceland’s Policy for International Development Cooperation 2024–2028, particularly in advancing climate resilience, promoting gender equality, and expanding equitable access to clean energy.

In line with these priorities, Iceland’s renewed contribution will strengthen efforts to reduce energy poverty and promote inclusive, sustainable development across the Fund’s target countries.

This marks Iceland’s second contribution to EEP Africa since joining the Fund in 2022, reinforcing its continued commitment to early-stage clean energy solutions and locally- led market development.

“Recommitments from our existing donors provide important validation that EEP Africa is doing right things and has a clear value-adding role in the clean energy ecosystem in Southern and Eastern Africa. We are thankful for Iceland’s continued support and their trust towards EEP Africa delivering on its mandate,” said Jussi Viding, Program Officer at NDF and Team Leader for EEP Africa.
