Funding opportunities for developing markets

On 17 August, nine Nordic and Finnish financing organisations took part in an NDF event on financing modalities for business in developing countries.

The purpose was to present different financing instruments available to Finnish companies and organisations who intend to do business in developing markets. A wide range of financing modalities was presented, with some organisations offering grants, others loan and/or guarantees. The event was co-organised by the Nordic Development Fund (NDF), Finpro and the Finnish Innovation Fund Sitra. In addition, the Nordic Environmental Finance Corporation (NEFCO), the Nordic Project Fund (Nopef), Finnpartnership, Finnfund, Finnvera, the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland, Tekes and Finpro presented at the event.

NDF presented its challenge fund, the Nordic Climate Facility (NCF), which provides funding for innovative climate projects in low-income countries. Emeli Möller, Manager of the Nordic Climate Facility, presented the upcoming 7th call for proposals which has the theme: Climate as Business – Testing innovative green business concepts. Nordic companies and organisations can seek funding under NCF together with at least one partner in the country of implementation. The event was part of the NCF roadshow to launch the 7th call and similar events will be held in Reykjavik, Stockholm and Copenhagen in the coming weeks.
