NDF participates in Central American Forum on Renewable Energy

NDF gave two presentations at the EEP XVII Regional Forum in Guatemala

The 17th Regional Forum in the Energy and Environment Partnership with Central America took place from the 30 March to 1 April 2011 in Guatemala City. The focus of the event was on renewable energy and sustainable development in Central America.

NDF was invited to participate in a plenary session on financing options for renewable energy, where Country Program Manager Aage Jorgensen gave a presentation on NDF, our activities in Central America and support to renewable energy projects. NDFs energy expert and Country Program Manager Hannu Eerola participated in a plenary on energy efficiency, where he presented the regional GreenPYME project and its opportunities for small- and medium size enterprises to obtain financing to implement energy saving measures.

The regional forum attracted more than 300 participants from Central America, United States and Europe. The participants included government representatives from all Central American countries, private sector entities, NGOs, and international organizations.
The Energy and Environment Partnership with Central America is an initiative launched during the United Nations World Summit on Sustainable Development in Johannesburg 2002; with the objective to promote the renewable energies in the region, contributing to sustainable development and the mitigation of the global Climate Change. This effort was launched with the support of Finland's Ministry for Foreign Affairs in coordination with the Central American Integration System (SICA) and the Central American Commission on Environment and Development (CCAD).
